Basic Plan For a Complete New Website:
$400 can start you on the Internet with your custom-designed
website with up to six pages, including:
up to eight pictures, plus a Secure Server
on-line order-form (if your webhost offers SSL, or if you
host through me) and a printable form for mail-orders.
If you do not as yet have a web host, I can also provide you with your web space at no cost for the first year. For a small basic site, hosting will be $60 /year in subsequent years. If you host through me, you will also have at least ten email addresses (you@yourdomain.com) available to you, SSL, and other amenities.
Beyond Basics:
Email me your phone number and a good time to call (with your time zone) for a quote on a larger site. Please go to my "How We Start" page to figure what you want to do before I contact you.
Payment is spread over three phases - when the site is started, when the overall design and graphics are approved, and when the site is finished and ready to go public.
Want More?
Further work is billed at $40/ hour, or about $30/page, depending on
complexity, or about $15/photo, depending on quality and complexity
of the original photo, unless it needs extensive reworking.
I can also provide product photography.
Website Maintenance and Updates:
are billed by actual time at $40/hour, as above, and you are billed
either monthly or when the total is more than $50, your choice.
Already have a website?
Need it redesigned? Ask for a bid.
Paying too much for your web-hosting package? Ask for a bid.
Webhosting Costs can vary greatly according to the size of your site and the charges and amenities of the webhost.
The average crafts or small business site - without a shopping cart - would reasonably cost in the range of $60 to $120 per year - you don't need to be paying $30 or more per month for hosting on a cutting edge big business site with unlimited bandwidth when you will be using only a fraction of the server space and bandwidth.
In some cases, what I saved clients on webhosting costs for one year was enough money for a complete site redesign.
However, sites with shopping carts can cost somewhat or substantially more, depending on various factors, including the number of items and your volume of traffic.
Domain Names. You can
easily pay too much for your domain name! There is no reason to pay
$35/year when you can pay $10 or less! I can save you the registration
hassle and register the name of your choice in your name,
check if the name is available) , or advise you as to where
you can register it yourself at a low price.
Shopping Carts do cost more,
as they demand more set-up, more webspace, and more bandwidth. I can
install several different carts for you. I am most familiar with osCommerce
and with the PayPal cart. Inquire.
Craftswomen: If you are craftswoman who shows at women's craft fairs, festivals, or conferences, and you want a web presence but do not need your own domain, contact me about how you can become a member of CraftsWomen! with your own subdomain like, (for example) www.craftswomen.com/YourName or yourname.craftswomen.com (your choice),
or if you already have a website or domain name, you might also want to link with craftswomen.com.
Take advantage of the group advertising and name recognition.
